Description
DHT22 Digital Temperature and Humidity Sensor Module
The DHT22 (also known as AM2302) is a calibrated digital temperature and humidity sensor mounted on a convenient breakout module. It outputs both readings over a single-wire digital interface, so you only need one GPIO pin to read the environment. Compared with the DHT11, the DHT22 offers a wider measurement range and better accuracy — making it a great choice for weather stations, IoT and environmental monitoring.
Features
- Measures both temperature and relative humidity
- Single-wire digital output — uses just one GPIO pin
- Factory-calibrated for accurate readings
- Breakout module with onboard pull-up resistor
- Wide range and higher accuracy than the DHT11
- Works with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266 and Raspberry Pi

Frequently Asked Questions
How is it better than the DHT11?
Wider range and higher accuracy — 0–100% RH and −40 to +80°C versus the DHT11’s narrower band.
How many pins do I need?
Just one data pin (single-wire digital), plus power and ground.
How often can I read it?
About once every 2 seconds.
