Processor & GPU Performance
The BCM2837B0 SoC integrates a VideoCore IV GPU with support for OpenGL ES 2.0, hardware-accelerated OpenVG, and 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decoding. The GPU delivers up to 1 Gpixel/s, 1.5 Gtexel/s, or 24 GFLOPs of general-purpose compute performance. When connected to an HDTV, the Pi 3B+ can stream Blu-ray quality video at 40 Mbits/s over H.264 — all without dedicated graphics hardware.
GPIO & Hardware Interfacing
The 40-pin GPIO header (2×20, 2.54mm pitch) exposes 27 programmable GPIO pins alongside UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces, plus 3.3V and 5V power rails. This makes the Pi 3B+ a popular platform for robotics, home automation, sensor networks, relay control, and custom electronics projects. Additional USB peripherals can be connected via a powered USB hub.
Power & Boot
Power the board using a 5V/2.5A Micro USB supply (sold separately). The Pi 3B+ boots automatically on power-up. For safe shutdown, always run the OS halt command before removing power to prevent SD card corruption. Using an underpowered adapter may trigger the low-voltage warning and cause instability.
Note: Only use the recommended 5V/2.5A power supply. Using any other power supply may cause damage and will void the warranty. Ensure your NOOBS card or OS image is updated to the latest version for full compatibility with the Pi 3B+.
