5mm green LED — pack of 10 through-hole LEDs.

  • Forward voltage 2.0 – 3.0V, 20 mA typical
  • Breadboard and PCB friendly
  • Ideal for indicators and Arduino/ESP32 projects
Description

5mm Green LED – Pack of 10

Standard 5mm green LEDs in a through-hole package, supplied as a pack of 10. They are bright, long-lasting and draw very little power, making them the go-to indicator for “OK” / power-on indicators, status lights and traffic-light projects.

Each LED has a longer anode (+) leg and a shorter cathode (−) leg with a flat edge on the cathode side of the lens. Always use a current-limiting resistor in series — see the guide below.

Features

  • Green light output, 5mm round lens
  • Low power — 20 mA typical forward current
  • Long life and low heat
  • Through-hole legs fit breadboards, perfboards and PCBs
  • Works with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266 and Raspberry Pi GPIO (with resistor)
  • Pack of 10 pieces

Specifications

  • Colour: Green
  • Size: 5mm
  • Forward voltage: 2.0 – 3.0V
  • Forward current: 20 mA (typical), 30 mA (max)
  • Lens: Diffused / Clear
  • Mounting: Through-hole
  • Pack size: 10 pieces

Choosing the Right Resistor

  • On a 5V supply (Arduino Uno/Nano): use 150Ω – 220Ω
  • On a 3.3V supply (ESP32/ESP8266/Raspberry Pi): use 47Ω – 100Ω
  • Formula: R = (Supply voltage − LED forward voltage) ÷ 0.02A

Applications

  • Power-on and status indicators
  • Arduino and ESP32 beginner projects
  • Traffic-light and signal models
  • Decorative and hobby lighting
  • Student practicals and school science projects

Package Includes

  • 10 x 5mm Green LEDs

Frequently Asked Questions

Which leg is positive?
The longer leg is the anode (+). The shorter leg, next to the flat edge of the lens, is the cathode (−).

Do I need a resistor?
Yes. Without a series resistor the LED draws too much current and burns out. A 220Ω resistor is a safe default on 5V.

Can I connect it directly to an ESP32 or Arduino pin?
Yes, through a suitable resistor. A GPIO pin can supply enough current for one LED at 10–20 mA.

Do you have other colours?
Yes — red, green, blue and white 5mm LEDs are all available in packs of 10.
